I have been raw almost 5 months now and I am now down 61 Lbs. I went to the doctor for my 3 month check on the diabetes and was told " I am so proud of you." My A1C was at 4.9 which is at normal. I have not had an A1C that was normal ever. Also all my other tests were normal and my insulin is cut from 30R and 40N two times a day to 20R and 30N once a day and Glucopahage 500 tabs 2 times a day. I made a really bad move last night and since I had eaten so many grapes I took a shot of insulin at bedtime also. About 3:45 a.m. I woke up in a sweat and could not see for the spots in my vision. I checked my sugar and it was only 42. I will not take insulin at night any more. The doctor would like to get me off of insulin altogether by my next visit in Jan. He also feels I can eliminate the pills by the time I get between 210 and 180. I have 48 to 78 Lbs to go. That means at 10 lbs a month in 5 to 7 months I should be off of most of my medications. Praise God and thank you raw life style. This way of eating does heal the body. I have been unable to see in the mirror that I have really lost weight. I don't know if it is a mind set or what but today I notice that I now have bat wings for upper arms and my shoulders have shrunk, my hump on my neck is not hard anymore and the hairline ridge at the back of my head is completely gone. I get depressed when I look at the full body image in the mirror or see pix of me sitting because I have a big gut but it was pointed out to me that the skin that is sagging (about 5-6 inches of it) on my stomach has no where to go but up when I sit giving the appearance of still a huge gut. My doctor said the self image thing is from my personality; I have a very critical, perfectionist view of my self. Hopefully that will change with time and weight loss.
I have been thinking very strongly of getting my granddaughter and I memberships to curves and going daily instead of 2 - 3 times a week. Alisha and I have been kind of distant lately and I miss her greatly. I need to get us both going as buddies again. She will be here tonight so I am going to get a recipe for us to do together. That seems to help both of us.
Today I am doing some accounting for my clients so this will be a sit and work day. Not much exercise today. Anyone have any ideas about getting some exersize while sitting at a dest? Sure would appreciate some input.

It's been awhile now since my first blog. I am down a few more pounds. Today it is 4 mos since I went raw. My weight is down by 54 lbs. I no longer need a scooter to do my grocery shopping. I am off liquid oxygen and have been getting some pointers from my vegetarian daughter on what to do and what not to do when you want to loose weight on RAW. One thing I did not realize is that you need to stay away from all fats, that means nuts, seeds, olive oil, avocados or tahini. Also dried fruits and vegetables are a no no. If you really want to lose and be healthy eat only fruit until noon then start with veggies. Don't eat fruit and veggies together. Fruits and veggies digest at different speeds. Don't drink water while eating, that dilutes the stomach fluids and interferes with proper digestion. Do more juices. Don't combined a lot of fruits. I had gotten stuck at 268 then 272 back to 270 and just kept jumping around between the 268 and 272 mark then my daughter gave me these few pointers and I went from 272 yesterday to 265 today. Also I have had a lot of fluid retention in my legs and feet but today there is none. Amazing what a few changes make. I am healthier then I have been in years. All of my slacks are to long were before they were short and I have to keep tying the waist smaller and smaller. Today I was able to wear a real bra instead of a sports bra. I have lost enough weight to actually see that I do have boobs. (Small but they are there again.) I'll go for now and will try to write more often. Until next time!

First Post
I'm new to raw, just 3 1/2 months. Started at 319 lbs now 267lbs. My "raw buddy" is my grandaughter Alisha. I found a great doctor who directed me to the raw foods lifestyle because of health issues. After just six weeks my cholesterol went from 210 to 150, my good cholesterol went from 17 to 60, my A1C went from 11 to 6. I was on oxygen, but was taken off of it after going raw. I can now go shopping without using a scooter. Alisha and I have been experimenting with raw recipes, tonight we made salsa for Alisha's school party tomarrow(they are ordering from Barbarito's). We're using a variety of lettuce leaves for dipping. We support each other, which makes our journey easier.
